The school's community volunteering project, The Fresh Face of Frisby, brought together parents, carers, local residents, Rise Multi Academy Trust staff, school staff and volunteers to give the school grounds a fresh new look ahead of pupils returning for the new academic year. 

Giving up their time during the summer holidays, volunteers rolled up their sleeves to tackle a wide range of improvement projects. From painting fences, sweeping pathways, jet washing outdoor areas and weeding flower beds to completely revitalising the school's overgrown pond area, every helping hand made a lasting difference. 

One of the biggest transformations was the pond area, which had become overgrown and difficult to access. Thanks to the incredible efforts of volunteers and donated resources, the space has been cleared, trimmed, raked and restored into a beautiful outdoor learning environment. The newly transformed area will provide an ideal setting for Forest School sessions, allowing pupils to explore nature, discover local wildlife and develop a deeper understanding of caring for the environment through hands-on learning. 

The project also received fantastic support from volunteers at Allison Homes, whose team generously donated their time to help with the transformation. 

The Fresh Face of Frisby is just the beginning of the school's exciting vision for its outdoor spaces. Plans are already underway to establish an Eco Team, expand gardening opportunities, grow fresh produce and create even more engaging outdoor learning experiences that support pupils' wellbeing, sustainability and connection with nature. There are also hopes of introducing a beehive as part of the school's environmental education programme. Pupils will learn about the vital role bees play in supporting biodiversity and pollinating plants, while helping to care for the hive and, in time, harvest their very own 'Frisby Honey'. These exciting projects will provide even more engaging outdoor learning experiences that promote sustainability, wellbeing and a lifelong connection with nature.

The kindness and community spirit shown throughout this project has been truly inspiring, and we simply couldn't have achieved this transformation without such fantastic support. Thanks to our amazing volunteers, our pupils will return to a school environment they can be proud of, with exciting new outdoor spaces that will inspire learning, exploration and a love of nature for years to come." 

With more outdoor developments planned over the coming months, Frisby C of E Primary School is inviting local businesses, organisations and members of the community to get involved and help bring its vision to life.
