Enabling children to flourish and succeed

Ofsted and Performance Data

Ofsted (the Office for Standards in Education) inspects schools to see how well they are helping children to learn, develop and thrive. Inspections are designed to give parents and carers an independent view of a school’s strengths and areas for improvement.

Under the current inspection framework, inspectors spend time in school looking closely at everyday practice. This includes visiting lessons, talking to pupils and staff, reviewing pupils’ work, and meeting with school leaders. Inspectors also consider parents’ views, including responses to Ofsted’s Parent View survey.

Judgements are based on several key areas:

  • Quality of education – how well the curriculum is planned and taught so that pupils gain knowledge and skills over time
  • Behaviour and attitudes – how safe, respectful and ready to learn pupils are
  • Personal development – how the school supports pupils’ wellbeing, confidence and wider experiences
  • Leadership and management – how effectively the school is led and how leaders work to improve the school

There is also a strong focus throughout inspections on safeguarding and pupils’ wellbeing.

The aim of the framework is to ensure inspections are fair, consistent and focused on what really matters for children. Ofsted reports are intended to help schools continue to improve, and to help parents understand how their child’s school is performing.

Our most recent Ofsted report can be read below and gives more detail about inspectors’ findings at our school.
